about me

Hello, and welcome to my space!

I’m Kim, and I am a birth and postpartum doula serving Kelowna, Lake Country and Vernon here in the beautiful and sunny Okanagan Valley.

I am also a member of Doula Canada; a top certification organization that has been training doulas around the world for almost 20 years, and I am currently working towards my certification.

What is a doula?

dou·la: a trained maternal support person that offers personalized educational, emotional and physical assistance and advice during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period.

My journey into doula-hood began in February of 2020, but my passion for supporting and empowering women and birthing persons has been within me for years. I am empathetic, compassionate and dependable, and for as long as I can remember I have had a strong inner desire to care for others.

The decision to become a doula was borne largely from my own experiences surrounding pregnancy and birth. I had a long and challenging birth with my first child, debilitating postpartum depression with my second, and then experienced prenatal loss with my third. I had an amazing doula for my third pregnancy that showed me unwavering support, loving guidance and a strength I did not know existed. In those difficult moments of my life, I realized I possess those same qualities and began my journey to start serving women in this blessed and honourable way.

“If you are looking for your purpose or calling, you will find it in your pain” ~Drew Brees

I am beyond grateful that you would consider me to be a part of your birth story, and I look forward to getting to know you and your family!

With love,

Kim

How I Got Here

How I Got Here

Becoming a doula has been life-changing for me. I'm assuming this is true for most, if not all, doulas. Cliché, I know. But that doesn't make it any less true. I have worked in many different industries over the last seventeen years. I have been a dishwasher, a dog...
